POSITION DETAILS

Brooklyn College of the City University of New York seeks an Admissions Director (Director of Recruitment). Reporting to the AVP for Recruitment, the Director of Recruitment will work with the division of Enrollment Management to identify and attract new student populations to the College. Lead the planning, design, coordination, and implementation of a strategic recruitment plan. The Director will partner with Enrollment Management leadership to manage on and off-campus recruiting and coordinate efforts to enhance enrollment for First time Freshmen, Transfer Students, and Non-Traditional Students.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, typical duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies and recruitment initiatives for freshmen, transfers, and non-traditional students; works closely with the Enrollment Management leadership and Marketing and Communications on development of these strategies.
  • Work with Enrollment Management leadership and data managers to monitor and analyze data to identify target populations and opportunities for recruitment and develop plan to respond to emerging opportunities. Evaluates and reports on trends and developments in priority and emerging markets to inform recruitment strategy.
  • Serve as expert on leading practices in recruitment, admissions, and enrollment and stay current on student recruitment best practices.
  • Work in partnership with Directors of Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions and International Student Services on recruitment efforts.
  • Oversee coordination of multiple special events focused on strengthening partnerships and visibility with high schools, community colleges, employers, and other community organizations to increase enrollment. Serves as a liaison with internal and external offices and departments that enter in the recruitment process.
  • Manages, trains, and provide professional development to the student recruitment team, serve as contact for potential and newly admitted students to inform, direct, and support through the admissions process at the College.
  • Collaborate with academic affairs, enrollment services, student financials, advising, student affairs, and special programs who engage with prospective students to develop integrated student recruitment plans.
  • Develop and manage student recruitment budget. Evaluate success of recruitment events, adjusting as needed to ensure ROI from outreach efforts. Recommend and implement creative and cost-effective ideas to increase innovation in recruitment strategies.
  • Review and analyze data to inform and determine the effectiveness of enrollment, recruitment, and marketing strategies.
  • Some evening hours required to engage with/outreach to prospective students, participate in recruitment events, and meet deadlines. Some weekend hours are required for recruitment events and activities. Some travel required.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

  • Bachelor's Degree and eight years' related experience required

Preferred

  • Master's degree in a related field, with progressively responsible leadership roles in the area of enrollment management, student services or student affairs
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, and leading diverse teams
  • Working knowledge of CUNYfirst or similar student management system
  • Ability to think critically, strategically, and creatively regarding recruitment and admissions
  • Strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills

  • Manages overall recruitment and admissions processes
  • Develops recruiting strategies for the College and/or specific programs or groups and works closely with academic departments, programs, and administrators to coordinate marketing and recruiting
  • Manages the development and distribution of recruiting materials and communications of all kinds
  • Manages admissions operations and staff, including coordination with outside organizations and University administration
  • Oversees department budget including developing detailed proposals to support recruitment and admissions
  • Evaluates and reports outcomes; uses information in statistical, fiscal, and other reports to make improvements to the recruiting process
